We too, can join the heavenly song.
Season’s Greetings, Beloved,
When facing a future entirely unknown, Mary’s response was simple: she sang. As Christmas Carols fill the air waves and perhaps your own home, as buskers in the subway belt a tune, or as those famous bell ringers call our attention to giving a gift for those in need, this is a musical season. Such has been the tradition since Mary sang that first Christmas. And, Mary’s song lives on.
Mary’s song is more than mere praise; it is the cry of the imagination of her heart. It is the very hope of Christmas and a longing for the day when God’s promises are fulfilled. Mary’s voice, like so many in scripture, is one that is part of the heavenly chorus calling for a world in which those in high places are humbled, and where people on the margins – like Mary herself – are brought to the center.
Beloved, we too can sing. We too, can join the heavenly song.
In this season of mystery and magic, West End Church presented our Community Choir and Orchestra in a spectacular Concert & Carol Sing-a-long on Saturday, December 14. Our children were hard at work with their own music specialist preparing for our annual Christmas Pageant on Sunday, December 15.
And, of course we’re preparing glorious worship for Christmas Eve at 5pm amidst the glow of candles. We do all of this as our Musician Search Team is also hard at work looking for a permanent Director of Music Ministry to lead us ever forward in song. Music is the work of our day.
As we sing our tunes for peace, hope, joy, and love, I ask you to give a gift in support of the music West End makes for the world.
Your gift will go directly to underwriting our music and arts programming, lifting a song we can sing all year through. Will you join me and make a gift today?
With great hope,
Will
