Wednesday – Praying Our Way Forward

Last night we had a meeting about the proposed Muslim community center near Ground Zero. Though there were differences of opinion, I was very pleased that the conversation was marked by respect and reasoned thought. We didn’t solve anything, but we left with a better understanding of one another. As we think about a way forward, we may wonder what to pray for in the midst of such polarized opinion in our city and nation. There is some simple advice in Scripture. It says that as we pray for the decision makers and opinion setters in our societies, the result we seek is that we may lead “a quiet and peaceable life in godliness and dignity.” (1 Timothy 2:2) As we pray our way forward, may we all be granted this.
