Friday – Retreat Time
This afternoon a group of forty of us will be driving to the Warwick Center for our annual church retreat. I have never been there, nor do I know how to get there. This could be a problem since I am driving one of the vans! I’m not worried about finding our way. With fifteen of us traveling together, there will be plenty of people to consult. And even if we get lost, we’ll have fun along the way. It is what retreats are all about. I don’t think it is too much of a stretch to say it is what being a Christian is all about. We are called to “be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love” (Ephesians 5:1, 2). As we drive to the retreat, whether we are heading the right way or the wrong way, we will be together and experience the gift of community. It is our chance to be imitators of God by living in love—with lots of laughter added!
Random thought of the day: being imitators of God is not only what we do individually; it is what we do together.
