Faye Timmer, mezzo-soprano, joined the West End Collegiate Church Choir in 2010. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, and her M.A. and M.Ed. in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. A dedicated church musician for over 20 years, she has directed children's, youth and adult choirs in churches in Texas, New York and New Jersey. As an early childhood music specialist, Ms. Timmer is Music Program Coordinator for the Head Start Program at Columbia University Medical Center where she works with approximately 300 underserved families residing in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan. She is a teacher and education consultant for WeBop!, a jazz music program for families at Jazz at Lincoln Center, assists with the New York Philharmonic Very Young People's Concert series and teaches general music at the newly formed Teachers College Community School in Harlem. She has led workshops and given research presentations on music with infants and children at colleges and universities in the northeast, and at conferences for the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, the American Guild of Organists, and the International Society for Music Education. She also sings with the Stonewall Chorale and Melodia Women's Choir in NYC. When not teaching or singing she enjoys working in her garden..
